Coach Tenocht promoted to blue belt!!!
We had a very special birthday and promotion this week. Our very own Coach Tenocht turned 16 this past weekend and was promoted to blue belt on Monday. It is a huge accomplishment for Tenocht, who began training with Professor Cindy Hales at the age of 5. He has consistently trained and earned each of the kid’s belts under Prof. Hales. Tenocht attends adult classes regularly and has also helped with the kid’s classes for the past couple of years. The whole team is very proud of Tenocht and his accomplishments and we eagerly await what the future holds for this talented young man. Congratulations Tenocht!
Proving Grounds 2.1.2020 recap
Another successful Proving Grounds Submission Only tournament in the books. We brought 6 competitors in total and everyone had a great showing of technique and sportsmanship. In the kids divisions, Joshua, Christopher and Ryli all displayed tons of heart and technique and we able to bring home some hardware. Dwayne and Ricky competed in the adult divisions and also left it all on the mats both bringing home medals as well. Tenocht competed in the juniors, as well as adult divisions, and was able to secure two gold and a silver medal with tons of heart and technical savvy displayed in all divisions.
On top of the competitors, we are always very proud of those teammates who worked at the event. A big thanks to Cassy, Amber, Gael and Kelly for devoting the day to helping the event and the sport. Also a big thank you to all the family and friends who came to lend support and encouragement. You are all appreciated! Thank you to everyone for making it another wonderful event.
Forgotten Children's Fund benefit seminar with Tom Steele a success!
Thank you to Professor Tom Steele of West Idaho BJJ / Team Yemaso for making the trip over to teach some moves for a great cause. Tom showed a slick armbar set up, to a tripod sweep and following leg lock submission series. He also shared some good details and concepts on guard passing. All the proceeds for the seminar will be going directly to the Forgotten Children’s Fund. Thank you for everyone who attended and donated to this cause.
